Would you like to shorten the time to product release, thereby reducing storage costs and also getting your products to customers sooner?
In the beverage industry, however, a microbiological final inspection of the products is essential.
The most commonly used methods for germ control are growth-based methods, such as plating on agar plates. These methods take days to produce a result. Thus, either the risk of delivering microbiologically contaminated products must be taken, or the products must be expensively stored in the interim.
Sysmex Partec provides a remedy here – quickly, safely, and reliably.
The necessary incubation time of growth-based methods means that the analysis results of microbiological quality control are only available after a few days. Thus, a product release taking these results into account can only take place after days, and your end products must be stored in the interim during this time. Alternatively, the products can be delivered without this result. In this case, however, a potentially necessary recall due to a detected microbial contamination is risked. Both options generate costs and, if applicable, damage to your image. If the products have reached the end customer in the meantime, the damage to the image and the expenses associated with a public recall are incomparably greater.
The germ analysis of beverages such as juices or soft drinks using the CyStain™ VitalCount Kit from Sysmex Partec GmbH enables a significantly faster and safer product release within just one day. Deliveries without taking into account the result of the microbial germ load can thus be avoided. This protects you from loss of image and expenses due to recall campaigns or significantly reduces storage costs for intermediate storage.
The CyStain™ VitalCount Kit is based on marking the microorganisms with fluorescent dyes. The vital staining method used here, possibly in combination with a short pre-culture, is a direct detection of living microorganisms.
A time-consuming culture on plates is not necessary. Each cell is individually detected and counted in a flow cytometric system. The method is automatable and requires no more than 4 hours for the analysis of up to 96 samples. The evaluation is carried out automatically according to a standardized, objective methodology.
The CyStain™ VitalCount Kit is the ideal solution for quickly, cost-effectively, and safely determining the germ load in non-alcoholic beverages. With the combination of the CyStain™ Vital Count Kit and a Sysmex Partec flow cytometer for industrial applications, both end products and intermediate products or raw materials can be carried out as end product, in-process, and raw material controls.
In addition to the germ load in beverages, the total germ load in production and process waters, the specific detection of various harmful germs (e.g. Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris and ssp., Brettanomyces anomala, Brettanomyces bruxellensis) and a mycotoxicological analysis can be carried out on the same device. Thus, Sysmex Partec offers a versatile solution for your various questions within product, process, and quality control.
Contamination can lead to a health risk or inefficient production facilities – and classic tests often take days.
